Janeane Garofalo has openly admitted to New York that she regularly gets plastic surgery; Botox injections every 6 months. She started this regiment around age 45 (6 years ago) and it has been working great. After six years, though, the shots have taken its toll on her face.
We can see Janeane Garofalo at age 20 and 51 in the before and after picture above. Just look at how vibrant and youthful her face used to be. She looked absolutely stunning when she was in her 20's. Something weird is going on with her jowls now, though. Janeane has trout pout lips which could suggest she's gotten lip injections, and her cheeks are sinking. Her heavy jowls could be the result of the fillers or Botox wearing off. Perhaps she was due for another treatment and just got caught wearing no makeup?
This is what Janeane Garofalo had to say regarding her plastic surgery use:
"I [get Botox] twice a year. So I'm not going to be one of those people that's like, 'Oh, isn't it awful. You see no movement.' Yes, I do do that and, you know, whatevs. I do it and, I don't know, sometimes it's looked awful. Sometimes it looks fine."
Clearly it looks awful in the after picture above. It does, in fact, look great in some of her earlier photos like this one, though.
Her initial use of Botox was done subtly and her face still looked natural as a result. There were no visible lines around her forehead, eyes, or jaw line. In my opinion, the only thing that gave away the fact she plastic surgery is how puffy her cheeks looked. While her face still looked real, there appeared to be 10% - 15% limited movement in her smile.
Janeane Garofalo had some legitimate points about why she got plastic surgery. She talks about how Hollywood is extremely competitive for a 45-year-old woman to find jobs (she's 51 now). So, looking youthful is the name of the game and the only way to stay ahead of the competition; unless you're Meryl Streep. She also goes on to say that men are allowed to age, gain weight, or look quirky, but women aren't.
I don't think Janeane Garofalo was wrong in getting plastic surgery. While I think that it looked fantastic at first, her face has taken a turn for the worse. The heavy jowls make her face look heavy and completely sunken. A facelift could be the next thing in store for to lift her cheeks. The unfortunate part of getting Botox is that it needs to be done every 6 - 12 months and you can never really stop. Are you just going to halt treatments after five years and suddenly drastically age? Also, as you can see in her case, it can mess up your face after using it too long. We all know about a few plastic surgery disasters in Hollywood that didn't know when to quit. I definitely don't think she's in that category and I do believe she'll get it all sorted out. But now she's hooked on cosmetic surgery and can't really get out. It's like a drug user: once you start you're a repeat customer...
